Hi everyone,

We are Lauren and Rain, the co-authors of Rewriting Rory, a blog aimed at ‘rewriting’ the later years (1985-1995) of Rory's career, which is so often overlooked when talking about him.

With our monthly blog posts, we aim to 'rewrite' Rory's narrative by shining a positive light on his later performances and music and dispelling myths surrounding his life. Through new research and interviews, we seek to ensure that Rory's story is rewritten into the deserved one, the definitive one, recognising, for the first time, his later-day achievements and demonstrating all that he continued to accomplish, despite his personal struggles.

We are very excited to share with you Part 1 of this month's blog post. We were very honoured to speak to the legendary Irish DJ and broadcaster, Dave Fanning, about his memories of Rory. In this first part, we discuss with Dave his love of Rory's music, first seeing him live and their 1980 and 1986 interviews. Today is the anniversary of one of our favourite Rory performances: Montreux Jazz Festival 1994. To mark the occasion, this month’s blog gives you everything you need to know about the concert. Hi everyone,

Today is the anniversary of Rory’s spectacular performance at the Festival interceltique de Lorient (Inter-Celtic Festival of Lorient) in 1994. We celebrate this occasion by publishing Part Two of our retrospect of Rory’s appearances at four European festivals in the summer of 1994. In our article, we had the pleasure of chatting with Breton musician Dan Ar Braz, as well as one of the official photographers for the Inter-Celtic Festival from 1992 – 1996, Nathalie Simon. The post also covers Rory's concert at the SDF Festival in Stuttgart on 21st August 1994.

As we mentioned in our message last week, this month is a busy one in terms of Rory's 85-95 achievements, so we are delighted to release our second article of the month today to coincide with the anniversary of Rory’s performance at the Temple Bar Blues Festival in Dublin, 1992.

Our article covers everything you need to know about both Rory’s guitar Masterclass (which occurred three days before the festival at the Guinness Hop Store), as well as the Temple Bar Blues Festival. For the article, we had the privilege of speaking to those who attended both events.
