Gordon Duncan -- Rory Gallagher's Jig

Sometimes Rory's influence stretches beyond the world of guitar players. Gordon Duncan was considered the "Jimi Hendrix" of the bagpipe and widely regarded as one of the most influential pipers in modern times. He also idolized Rory Gallagher. He wrote a Celtic Jig in honor of Rory. It was later recorded by John Spillane's old traditional band, Nomos, and also by John Carnie on his solo acoustic guitar album. I met once the late Gordon Duncan (in Lorient), and I've even got a CD. A fantastic bagpipe and low whistle player, and a true gentleman. He was for the bagpipe what was Davy Spillane for the Uillean pipe.

That is cool that you met Gordon. His brother Ian is much like Donal in so far as he tries to keep his brother's memory alive.
