Re: Lou Martin
Merci pour ces news Chino! Big kisses to you Lou, and thank you Pauline!

Re: Lou Martin
Happy Birthday Lou (with 2 days late)

Sadly, Jennifer passed this along on the LT forum
Graham and I have had an email from Lou's niece. It is with the heaviest hearts that we advise that Lou passed away this morning, 17th August, at 3.30 am. He had been holidaying for a few days with his mum and became ill. He was admitted to hospital but passed away peacefully. His niece says that he wanted to see the sea one more time, feel the sea breeze and the sun, and listen to the waves and seagulls. This he did.
We saw him just before leaving England in June. I think he knew he didn't have long. Lou knew his fans loved him and we reinforced this each time we saw him.
I'm so sorry to be the bearer of such bad news.
Bless you Lou, rest in peace.
Jennifer.

I heard the sad news this morning that Lou Martin, has passed away after a long illness. Apart from his work with Killing Floor and many others, he'll be especially remembered as long time keyboard player with Rory Gallagher. I never got to know Lou very well as he'd left with drummer Rod De'Ath before I joined but we played together on a number of occasions at The Bridge House in Canning Town in London where The Gerry McAvoy Jam was a regular occurrence between tours with Rory. The last time I saw Lou was when we shared a hotel room after a charity show in London. Our decision to stay was a bit last minute so most of the local hotels were fully booked but Lou had managed to bring back a crate of beer and we sat up till morning laughing, joking and telling tales of our experiences on the road. My thoughts are with his family and friends. Rock'n'Roll Lou!

Re: Lou Martin
Et un message de Gerry McAvoy:
It’s with a heavy heart I write this.
After hearing the sad news of my old friend and musical companion Lou leaving us.
I knew Lou had been unwell for some time, and we kept in touch by phone. Without dwelling on the negatives, I’ve had time to remember the good times, and my many memories of a great musician and a good and kind person.
His knowledge of music (especially the blues) was vast.
His love of music was infectious. He could drag you into his world of music, and you wouldn’t even know it, but you loved it.
This was the guy who travelled with a record player and albums (not CD’s), whether we were travelling to Japan, Australia, or the U.S.A, there was Lou with his record player and his collection of blues albums. That was dedication.
I first met Lou when he played with Killing Floor with Rod de’Ath and Mick Clarke. After he joined up with Rory we became very close friends. Even after Lou and Rod split from Rory we would still keep in touch. I would often go and see the band “Ramrod” which they formed. In recent years, Lou and I played some shows together, and it was great to feel his warmth and enthusiasm again, bringing back great memories. Thoughts of all of us storming across the USA, Rory, Lou, Rod, Donal and myself
breaking all the rules. Great days!
Sadly, Lou became unwell and couldn’t play his piano, which he loved and adored. It must have been so hard for him to accept this, but whenever we talked, he would brush it aside.
Lou you were a person of great strength and kindness, and I will miss you dearly. Say hello to Rory & Wilgar for me.
Your old friend
Gerry (Mr Dooley)
Re: Lou Martin
Rest in peace Lou

Re: Lou Martin
our family have been moved by your messages and tributes to Lou and its is a huge comfort to us in these sad days, especilally our mother Margaret who is looking at all the messages.
We had taken Lou to Bournemouth as a way of responding to his desire to see the sea, hear the gulls and feel the breeze on his face. He was already weak and took a turn for the worse so had to be hospitalized urgently in Bournemouth Hospital where he slipped away peacefully in the early hours of Friday 17th August.
Our sadness is mixed with relief that Lou is suffering no more and is at peace. We are blessed to have a brother that leaves such a legacy of great music. Our kids and his nephews and neices also have his passion for music and love for the blues and for this We are thankful-Lou lives on in his great music.
Thank you all for your care, your solidarity and above all for your love of Lou''s piano playing
Pauline
