http://recordcollectornews.com/2016/04/mick-rock/
"Some of my favorite photographs of yours are the Rory Gallagher covers for Deuce, Live! In Europe and his self-titled record, which is such an intimate picture. I don’t know if people knew him then, or thought—
Well they knew him in Europe. In Europe, I think he was always appreciated.
How did those photo shoots come together?
I was freelancing. He came straight to me for Deuce. We got on well. I liked Rory. I like the way he looked too. He looked like some poet from some previous century."

http://www.glidemagazine.com/158811/vivian-campbell-def-leppard-talks-last-line-dio-spirit-loss-jimmy-bain-interview/
"You said earlier you played angry rock guitar. So how did Rory Gallagher become someone you admired so much?
My two major influences as a guitarist were, in this order, Rory Gallagher and then a year or two later I discovered Gary Moore. I learned a lot from both of them and I still do learn a lot from them. But they both play very, very physically, as indeed I do. We physically assault the instrument. That’s why I say getting angry with my Les Paul. It is a very intense physical interaction between me and my guitar. I often refer to it like wrestling a tiger cause it’s constantly on edge and you don’t really know which way it’s going to go.
But yeah, Rory had a very heavy right hand, as did Gary Moore, so I’ve picked up that particular habit from both of those guys and it’s helped shape the way that I play. I think even if you didn’t know that those two guys were my biggest, most influential influences in my formative years, I think it’s pretty apparent in my playing. A lot of the pinch harmonics that I hit with my right hand, a lot of the heavy palm muting that I do with my right hand, are very, very indicative of both of those guitar players. The heavy palm muting comes from Gary Moore, the pinch harmonics comes from Rory. There’s a full-blooded assault in the way that they play guitar, to my ears, and I think that’s what originally attracted me. Something in me was always attracted to that and it’s manifested itself in my playing as well."

"The other big influence on me at this time was Rory Gallagher. I found his albums in record shops and I knew I would like him. Lots of bands at that time were remote and shrouded in Tolkienesque imagery or had a sound that was swamped with organs and all kind of nonsense.
Rory Gallagher was Irish and someone I could relate to. He had a beat-up guitar, played stripped down lo-fi rock and was the walking definition of musical integrity. He seemed to live for playing the guitar, and to me he represented the idea if you wanted you could live all of your life in a room with your guitar and an amp and that could be your world forever."

“Rory was probably the most natural player I’ve ever seen. In all the gigs we did together I don’t think I ever heard him play the same thing twice... He was the ultimate performer.” Ritchie Blackmore
